Current development status
Reverie is a development prototype with no public release. Local photo playback and demo scenes are implemented. Google Photos authorization has been tested, but Ambient API device creation is blocked pending acceptance into Google’s partner program. Cloud photo playback is not currently available.
Who is responsible
Quiet Forge is the independent developer brand behind Reverie. For support or questions about personal data, contact anattoly.k@gmail.com.
Local photographs
When you select local images through Android’s file picker, Reverie saves the selected document references and the read permissions needed to open those images again. It reads the images on your device for playback. It does not upload local photographs to Quiet Forge.
App settings, such as the photo interval, playback order and clock preference, are also stored on the device.
Google Photos authorization and intended playback
If you explicitly choose to connect Google Photos in an approved development build, Reverie requests authorization through Google’s own sign-in flow. Your Google password is entered only on Google’s service and is not received by Reverie.
The requested permissions allow the app to identify the connected account using its profile and email, and to access media selected for the TV through the Google Photos Ambient API. Account identification is shown in settings, not over the screensaver.
Access and refresh tokens, account identification and Ambient device metadata are stored on the TV in an encrypted vault using Android Keystore. They are excluded from the app’s Android backup and device-transfer configuration.
When API access is approved and cloud playback is available, photos will be fetched directly from Google only during an actively running system screensaver. Cloud image data is held in memory for playback, with no persistent image cache. The ordinary preview uses local or demo content. Quiet Forge does not operate a server that receives or stores these photos.
How Google user data is used
Google user data is used solely for the visible Google Photos screensaver feature and management of its connection. It is not sold, used for advertising, or used to train AI models.
Reverie’s use and transfer of information received from Google Photos APIs will adhere to the Photos API User Data and Developer Policy and the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Disconnecting and deleting data
- Use Set up Google Photos → Disconnect Google Photos in Reverie to clear the local account vault. The app also attempts to remove the Ambient device and revoke the Google authorization.
- If remote removal fails, for example because access is blocked or the device is offline, the app reports this. You can separately remove Reverie in your Google Account connections.
- Revoking shared app authorization may require signing in again on other TVs connected through the same Google account and OAuth client.
- Choosing the built-in landscapes removes the app’s saved local photo selection and releases its related read grants. It does not delete your original photos. It does not itself disconnect Google Photos; use the separate disconnect action.
- Android’s Clear storage action or uninstalling Reverie removes the app’s local data. This does not by itself guarantee removal of a connection on Google’s servers.
Contact us if you need help understanding or removing data. We may ask for limited information needed to identify and handle your request; never send passwords or authorization tokens.
Diagnostics
The current app does not include an analytics or advertising SDK. Development builds may write bounded technical errors to local Android logs, such as an operation name and HTTP status. Diagnostic messages are redacted to remove URLs, email addresses and long credential-like identifiers. Tokens and raw photo content are not intentionally logged or sent to Quiet Forge.
